TargetWise × Claude

Business data. In your Claude conversation.

Research a company, enrich a selected contact or find a work email without leaving Claude. Connect your TargetWise workspace once, then ask for the fields you need.

About TargetWise

TargetWise is a B2B data enrichment platform that helps sales, revenue operations and AI teams turn incomplete company and contact records into usable business data. It combines waterfall contact enrichment with company intelligence and delivers results through its web platform, API and MCP connectors.

Choose where you use Claude.

Connect TargetWise to Claude web.

  1. In TargetWise → Developers, create a dedicated key named Claude.
  2. Open Claude and go to Customize → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Older layouts place Connectors under Settings.
  3. Enter TargetWise as the name and copy this server URL:
Remote MCP server URL
https://targetwise.ai/api/mcp
  1. Choose No sign in for OAuth authentication. Under Request headers, add the required header below, replacing the placeholder with your key.
Header nameHeader value
AuthorizationBearer YOUR_TARGETWISE_KEY
  1. Save the connector and enable TargetWise in the conversation’s connector menu.
Your API key still authenticates every request.

“No sign in” disables the OAuth step; it does not make TargetWise public. If your Claude account does not offer Request headers, use the Desktop extension or Claude Code below. Never paste the key into a chat message or the server URL.

Install the Claude Desktop extension.

  1. Download the extension above.
  2. In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Extensions → Advanced settings → Install Extension and select the .mcpb file.
  3. Enter your dedicated TargetWise key in the TargetWise API key setting. Paste the key only, without Bearer.
  4. Enable TargetWise and open a new conversation. Check that its tools appear in the connector menu.

The extension uses Claude Desktop’s Node.js runtime. Your organisation may require an administrator to approve custom extensions. For a directly downloaded extension, install a new bundle manually when an update is released.

Add TargetWise to Claude Code.

Merge this entry into your project’s .mcp.json. Supply TARGETWISE_API_KEY through your environment or secret manager before starting Claude Code. The file contains a variable reference, not your key.

.mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "targetwise": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://targetwise.ai/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${TARGETWISE_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}

Download the configuration. Run /mcp in Claude Code and approve TargetWise. Preserve any other servers already in your configuration.

Start with discovery. Then one record.

Ask Claude to list its tools first. This checks that the connector is enabled without requesting business data or spending enrichment credits.

Connection check
List the TargetWise tools available to you. Do not run a data lookup.

Then replace the placeholders with a business contact you are permitted to query:

First work-email lookup
Use TargetWise to find the work email for [first name] [last name] at [company domain]. Make one lookup only. Do not request a phone number. If no match is returned, say it is unavailable.

Review the result and the request in TargetWise usage. A connection can be valid while a specific tool is unavailable under your plan.

What you seeWhat to check
401 / invalid keyReplace an expired or revoked key in the connector settings. Include Bearer and a space for web request headers.
403 / access deniedCheck account status and the requested operation’s workspace access.
Credits exhausted / operation unavailableReview your allowance or commercial access in TargetWise; do not repeat the lookup.
429 / rate limitWait before another request. Keep one-record tests and avoid automatic retries.
No tools appearEnable TargetWise in the conversation. Reconnect or restart Claude Desktop after changing extension settings.

Eleven tools, with your existing access.

Paid plans currently support email and phone results. Company, search, reverse-email and extended-profile operations depend on evaluation allowances and commercial access. The tool list describes capabilities; your workspace determines which calls can run.

targetwise_find_companiesFind companies by identity

Tell Claude which fields you need and how many calls it may make. Returned fields vary by record. A business phone is not necessarily a mobile number, and a returned email is not a deliverability check.

A separate key. Clear control.

Create a dedicated key so you can revoke Claude’s access independently. The Desktop extension sends requests only to https://targetwise.ai/api/mcp, refuses redirects, and does not read local files, run commands or save results. Its API key setting is marked sensitive for Claude’s credential storage.

Queries and returned business data are shared with TargetWise and Claude to answer your request. Calls use your workspace’s existing account checks, billing and rate limits. Shared Claude Team or Enterprise header credentials use the same TargetWise workspace for every member.

Read the privacy policy, terms and MCP reference. This is a TargetWise custom connector; official Anthropic directory approval is a separate process.
